Orthodoxy in our area

The Butler area is blessed to have no less than three Orthodox parishes: our own Saint Anthony parish (Antiochian Orthodox), Saint Andrew (Orthodox Church in America), and Saints Peter and Paul (Ukrainian Orthodox). Click on the respective links to visit our neighbors and fellow Orthodox.

We are also close to the Monastery of the Transfiguration (Orthodox Church in America) in Ellwood City, the Monastery of the Nativity of the Theotokos (Greek Orthodox) in Saxonburg, and the Convent of St. Thekla and retreat center at the Antiochian Village (Antiochian Orthodox).

PAN-ORTHODOX LITURGY IN BUTLER
January 16, 2011

On the 16th of January 2011, the Sunday prior to the feast of Saint Anthony the Great, the parishioners of the three Orthodox churches in Butler came together at St. Anthony Orthodox Church for a Pan-Orthodox Divine Liturgy and fellowship. The three priests--Fr. Bogdan, as host, Fr. Joseph Wargo (OCA), and Fr. Paisius McGrath (Ukrainian)--concelebrated Orthros (Matins) and Divine Liturgy with well over a hundred people participating.

Click here and here for some video footage of this beautiful service.

On this first Pan-Orthodox Sunday Liturgy at St. Anthony's the singing was gorgeous thanks to the enthusiasm and professionalism of the Byzantine chanter from St. George Cathedral in Pittsburgh.
